Lemon Lime Basil Hydrate Spritz

Lemon Lime Basil Hydrate Spritz - Ballerina Farm

Our Lemon Lime Basil Spritz starts with the newest flavor of Farmer Hydrate, Lemon Lime Basil. We pair it with a house-made honey simple syrup, steeped with whole basil leaves and leftover lemon and lime peel from the kitchen, then add soda water with a squeeze of fresh citrus. It's tart, lightly sweet, and fresh.

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

  1. Use a small, sharp knife to remove large strips of zest from one of the limes and one of the lemons. Be careful to avoid the white pith.
  2. Set aside the limes and lemons, and place the strips of zest in a small saucepan with the honey, water, and basil. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Cook until the honey is completely dissolved, then continue simmering for 4 to 5 minutes to let the citrus zest and basil infuse into the syrup. Remove the zest and basil, then pour the syrup into an airtight container and refrigerate until completely chilled, about 2 hours.
  4. Meanwhile, juice the remaining lemons to yield approximately 1 cup juice, and the remaining limes to yield approximately ¼ cup juice. You may not use all of the citrus—set aside any extras for another use.
  5. To assemble the spritzes, add 1 to 2 tablespoons (½ to 1 ounce) syrup to each glass, depending on your preference. Add 1 tablespoon (½ ounce) lime juice and 4 tablespoons (2 ounces) lemon juice to each glass.
  6. Next, add 1 scoop of Farmer Hydrate to each glass and whisk to combine until dissolved. If needed, use a frother to combine. Add ice, then top each glass with sparkling water (7 ounces, or just shy of 1 cup) and serve. Garnish with an extra sprig of basil, if desired.
