Bacon & Cabbage

Ingredients

  • 1 pack Ballerina Farm Bacon
  • 1 medium cabbage, cored and sliced into thin strips
  • 2 cups chicken broth, water also works just fine
  • Ballerina Farm Black Pepper & French Salt to taste
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon mustard seeds

Directions

  1. Place a large stockpot over medium heat. 
  2. Cut the bacon strips into 4 pieces each. Cook until the bacon is cooked, but not fully crispy. Remove half of the rendered grease from the pot.
  3. In the same pan, add the cabbage, chicken broth or water, and mustard seeds if you have. They will add a nice kick and bite.
  4. Stir everything well, cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes, until the thickest parts of the cabbage are tender. 
  5. Taste, then season with Ballerina Farm Black Pepper & French Salt.
  6. Top off with a tablespoon of butter.
